Invest in Mbire Abattoir — A Profitable Venture with Community Impact

As Mbire Abattoir (Private) Limited, we are raising $400,000 to build a modern abbatoir at Mahuwe Rural Service Centre with a starting processing capacity of 20 Cattle and 40 Goats a day with state of the art cold chain facilities, servicing Mbire District, Muzarabani District, Centenary North, Lower Guruve, part of Mt Darwin and Rushinga.

About Us
Mbire Abattoir (Private) Limited (Reg: 65413A02102025) was incorporated in Zimbabwe in 2025 with the purpose of establishing and operating a modern, cold‑chain enabled livestock processing facility in Mbire District, Mashonaland Central Province. The Company is majority woman‑owned, reflecting its commitment to inclusive growth and community empowerment.

The district and its surroundings are home to approximately 140,000 cattle and 218,000 goats, yet currently lacks a registered abattoir.

Currently, farmers  trek more than 100 kilometres to Mt Darwin or sell their livestock to middlemen at discounted prices, resulting in significant erosion of value. Most farmers travel to Harare, over 250km incurring heavy transport fees, leading to loss of value. By situating the abattoir at Mahuwe Rural Service Centre, we will provide a centralised, regulated, and efficient processing hub. This will reduce logistical burdens, minimise spoilage through cold‑chain infrastructure, and unlock value for both farmers and investors.

We believe that Mbire Abattoir (Private) Limited represents a unique investment opportunity; combining strong livestock supply fundamentals, first‑mover advantage in the district, and a business model designed to deliver sustainable financial returns alongside measurable community impact.

The abattoir is going to operate from an area that is home to 140 000 cattle, 218 000 Goats. These numbers enable the area to supply the abattoir sufficiently. There are 450 000 people living in the area, acting with 60% of households owning cattle. The means that the abattoir is poised to improve the lives of many people through fair pricing, access to market and professional services that improves farming and value chain in the area.

Dr Edwin T Mutambanengwe.
Operations Director

Dr Edwin Mutambanengwe holds a PhD in Social Work, where he specialised in implementation science — the study of how to turn policies, legislation and operational standards into practical systems that work on the ground. He uses this expertise to design operational processes that are easy for staff to follow, measurable in their performance, and sustainable as the business grows. In a meat processing and cold-chain environment, he applies this knowledge to build strong systems for hygiene control, animal welfare, workflow efficiency, staff training and regulatory compliance. His academic grounding enables Mbire Abattoir to apply best practice consistently, monitor performance effectively and strengthen quality at every stage of production. This creates a reliable, well-regulated operation that can scale sustainably and deliver high-quality service to farmers, consumers and the wider community. Dr Edwin brings more than 17 years of strategic leadership experience across government, not-for-profit institutions and the private sector in Zimbabwe, South Africa and the UK. As a current Head of Service in a UK local authority, he leads over 25 staff, manages complex budgets and oversees high-risk operational systems. He brings this leadership experience directly into the abattoir, strengthening its planning, financial management, staffing structures and operational reliability. Further, Dr Edwin also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Sector Monitoring and Evaluation from the University of Stellenbosch, along with a Master’s degree focused on legislative and policy evaluation. These qualifications give him advanced skills in regulatory analysis, compliance oversight and performance monitoring, which are all essential for navigating the strict standards that govern meat processing, environmental health, animal handling, cold-chain safety and public protection. As a Board Member for Social Care Wales, Dr Edwin brings strong governance and scrutiny skills, helping ensure that Mbire Abattoir operates transparently, meets its regulatory obligations, is profitable and maintains a high standard of organisational accountability. Alongside this, he also runs a successful consultancy business specialising in leadership development, regulatory compliance, staff training and organisational capacity building. This experience adds value to the abattoir’s workforce development, internal systems and engagement with regulators and commercial partners. As an associate university lecturer and educator, Dr Edwin is dedicated to community development. He will provide structured training for young people in the Mbire district in meat processing, hygiene, cold-chain operations and workplace readiness. He also works well with community and traditional leaders, promoting culturally grounded partnerships and encouraging women to take active roles in enterprise.

Pascal Nyasha
Business Development

Pascal' s commitment to ensuring fair prices and access to markets for smallholder farmers started when he started Agrk, partnering the Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) to build a market information system that reached over 90,000 farmers daily with commodity prices via SMS, earning recognition from Junior Chamber International. Agrk collected commodity prices daily across all markets nationally and generated a market report that was sent to stakeholders, enabling farmers to make informed decisions during selling seasons. The platform became a market link between buyers and sellers, with sellers posting their needs and the union helping link with products. From this foundation of agricultural innovation and community empowerment, Pascal went on to drive business turnarounds and pioneering ventures, transforming Skills Development Professionals (SDP) college in Bloemfontein from R5 million to R30 million annual revenues while Director, expanding scholarships to over 6,000 youths. A qualified Social Worker from the University of Zimbabwe, Pascal combines grassroots mobilisation skills with global thought leadership, having published over 300 articles and spoken at platforms such as SingularityU, ACCA, and the International Trade Centre’s WEDF17. Rooted in Zimbabwe’s agricultural economy as a chicken farmer in Mahusekwa and currently serving with a local authority in London, Pascal brings a rare blend of community development expertise, entrepreneurial acumen, and international exposure that positions him to contribute to Mbire Abattoir in balancing profitability, innovation, and rural transformation, aligning investor capital with sustainable community impact.
